The Nomad EXP is designed for value and convenience as an all-in-one, complete harness and wing system where the harness, wing, buttplate are one, continuous rig. Without the Gusset Control and without using the wing keepers on the waist belt, the Nomad EXP delivers a full 50lbs of lift*. Using the GCS and wing keepers, divers are able to streamline the wing's lift according to the tanks they will carry. The Nomad EXP is designed for those divers who dive sidemount in open water or less strenuous conditions and want the convenience of transitioning to backmount double tanks or singles when needed. The adjustability of lift helps the diver transition between tank configurations.
Popular with tech divers for its trim characteristics as well as open water divers wishing to transition into technical diving down the road, the Nomad EXP provides proper trim by keeping the top of the wing narrow, allowing more lift at the
bottom, which is ideal for rebreather and sidemount divers where heads-up buoyancy can be an issue.
The Nomad EXP is available with a single bladder or dual bladder and comes standard with a 16-inch corrugated hose, a plain elbow, a 22-inch low pressure inflation hose and a 2-inch crotch strap. Alternate length hoses are also available. Ring bungees and tank chokers come standard with the Nomad EXP. Made in the U.S.A.
Note: Single tank divers will also require a pair of cam straps, which are not included. Double tank divers will also require a set of TransPac Stability Plates, which are not included.
*As of July 1, 2011 lift measurement on all Dive Rite wings has been revised to reflect the most recent lift testing based on European CE requirements. Please note the wing itself has not changed.
The Nomad EXP is completely customizable as follows:
- Available in sizes M, L, XL
- Choice of single bladder or dual bladder wing
- Choice of 12-inch, 16-inch or 22-inch elbow corrugated hose along with either 15-inch, 22-inch or 27-inch low-pressure inflation hose. Common configuration is 16-inch corrugated hose with a 15-inch low-pressure inflation hose for an average 6-foot, 225lb man. Please adjust according to chest size, height and individual preference.
- BUNGEES: Ring bungees are standard.
- CHOKER (BC2720-CHOKER) comes standard with two, nylon tank neck chokers to attach the Nomad bungee clip to and secure the bottle easily under the arm.
- Note: Single tank divers will also require a pair of cam straps, which are not included. Double tank divers will also require a set of TransPac Stability Plates, which are not included.
- The chest strap should be fastened before the bungees are attached. The chest strap is used to ensure the shoulder straps come down across the shoulders and parallel to each other. This way they apply pressure to keep the bungees in place
- The 2" crotch strap should be adjusted so it is snug and pulls the waist belt down slightly in the front.
- For cave diving we recommend butt mounting the canister light on the crotch strap below the tank mounting rings, you will need a longer light cord and the 70 degree angled canister light routes the light cord properly.
- For sidemount diving, run the light cord up under the waist belt so it doesn't interfere with cylinder attachments.
- Multiple grommets on the plate allow the diver to move the rig in 2" increments to adjust trim. Very handy when changing cylinder sizes.
